Making Media that Matters

The Inaugural Transformational Experiences Summit will focus on the art, science and design of making media that matters. We will explore experiences that span learning, health, training, social impact, civics, entertainment and more; made through media that range from games, animation, location-based installations, augmented reality, mobile devices, robotics, interactive performances, transmedia storytelling, etc.

We believe that transformational experiences can happen through well-designed media that have the potential to impact our lives in meaningful ways. We are interested in how transformation can occur with different topics, media, groups and contexts, and want to apply methodical techniques to discover fundamental principles and best practices on how to design and assess the experiences that a user, player, or guest can have. We will illustrate the expressive potential of meaningful media to provide dynamic transformational experiences that enhance how we engage in the world.

The Summit

This summit is for people interested in how experiences can be designed and developed to positively transform and improve our society. Through this summit we hope to expand our notions of what media are capable of doing, and what we are capable of doing with media, so that we can best design experiences that educate, engage and inspire.

The summit will be focused on engaging attendees with hands-on workshops, roundtable discussions and the sharing of case studies and demos, along with Well Played sessions to illustrate and analyze transformational games.
